An installation produced with the metaphor of folding<\/em> in mind, during an autumnal (2010) residency in the ANU School of Art’s Sculpture Dept.<\/p>\n

Folding in this instance might include the kind of folding which occurs when a number of ingredients are mixed together during the preparation of a cake. The installation contained pieces with differing time signatures: hair accumulation<\/em> used the excess body hair of the artist (mostly grey) and his partner (mostly blonde) collected over a period of years since the beginning of their relationship, floor action<\/em> was a real time video of the artist (and an unexpected guest) cleaning the floor over which limit cycle<\/em> would be hung. Tip of my tongue<\/em> was an artist’s statement of sorts, in the form of a concrete poem on the surface of a mirror through which a reflection of the entire installation could be seen (along with the viewer reading, inside it). Limit cycle<\/em> was a fixed-wheel bicycle assembled from parts sourced worldwide via eBay over a period of about 18 months, suspended over the floor on steel cables. It included a bronze cast of a piece of locally grown bamboo, laced into the rear wheel to immobilise it.<\/p>\n
